The 2025 FOP Australia Conference will be held on the 22nd-24th August in Melbourne at the Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Southbank, and also online via our Zoom online conference platform, where recordings of the livestream are now available along with a collection of resources and program details.
We are so excited have been able to welcome invite people with FOP, family members, friends and supporters in Australia and New Zealand to our first national gathering this decade! We also welcomed clinicians and researchers to learn about Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva from international and local experts at this meeting.
The meeting began on Friday with private family/clinician meetings, so that each FOP family could be offered the chance to meet with international and national FOP clinicians. Friday also included opportunities to learn about and contribute to FOP research projects, including the new FOP Australia/CaPPRe project. Saturday and Sunday included a full program of keynote presentations, Q+A panels and topic discussions. The Saturday presentations opened with the milestone announcement from the Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health, that palovarotene would be come the first FOP treatment available in Australia.
FOP Australia are so grateful to our FOP families, supporters, international and national clinicians, researchers and advocates who were part of this special event. Photos from the conference can be found on the FOP Australia Facebook and Instagram pages.
